Dear Colleagues! Dear friends!

The year ends in 2021. It has been a challenging year for the whole world, however, it has been very fruitful for our professional community of ASECU and ASECU Youth members. With our joint efforts we have organized a number of landmark and highly successful events. And it could not be otherwise, because in 2021 we celebrated two anniversaries at once ‒ the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Association of Economic Universities of South and Eastern Europe and the Black Sea Region and the 10th anniversary of the creation of its youth wing ‒ The Students’ Association of Economic Universities of South and Eastern Europe and the Black Sea Region (ASECU Youth).

These two important anniversaries are confirmation of the great achievements of our community and a solid foundation for its further development.

Just listing the main achievements of ASECU and ASECU Youth in the year to end will take much time, you can learn about all of them on the website…

I will mention only two of the most significant events:

This is a triple event organized at the highest level by our colleagues from the Faculty of Economics, University of Belgrade. On 13-14 September 2021, in Belgrade, we solemnly celebrated the 25th anniversary of the establishment of ASECU, held an extraordinary General Assembly of the Association, at which the historic decision was made to integrate ASECU Youth as a semi-autonomous union into ASECU and held the 17th International Conference of ASECU “Post COVID19 in SEE and Black Sea Region – Responses towards SDGs “.

The second event is the anniversary of ASECU Youth and the 10th ASECU Youth International Conference and Summer School “Build a Sustainable Future in SEECs and Black Sea Region” organized by the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, “Alexandru Ioan Cuza “University of Iasi, Romania.

We look back with gratitude at the past year and look forward to the coming year of 2022! Next year we have already planned and are getting prepared to the 18th International Conference of ASECU at the University of Korce, Albania, and the 11th ASECU Youth International Conference and Summer School at the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra, Slovakia. But we are sure that there will be much more new meetings and projects.

May there be peace, health and prosperity in every home! And may this coming year be marked by new milestones of our friendship and cooperation in the ASECU and ASECU Youth family!

This year was again a challenging one, with difficult times for everyone. I am grateful that even though we had our events online, we managed to keep them and have had new participants from several countries. I loved every bit of the online interaction we had.
